Day
3 led us out on an 8 hour hike, bringing us over a high
mountain ridge, just shy of 15,000' (higher than the highest
point in the continental Estados Unidos). Lunch was served in
terribly bitter cold wind, and our day ended with a 2000'
descent into the impressive Karango Valley; to camp this
evening at roughly 12,900'
Very
cold early morning temperatures
still gave way to warmth after sunrise.
Soon after lunch saw the end of shorts
for the rest of the trip.

Just look at those rosy cheeks.
If only I were a 14 year old
