The Serengeti: Elephants!
Part I

The closest sightings of the trip, we had a family feeding around us.
There was a mother and baby in the group, and the mother turned on
the rover at one point and was so close to the vehicle, I could have reached
out and touched the end of her tusk. She was three times the size of the car!

We start our pictures
from a good safe
distance. No 300mm
zoom needed for these,
a good fast shot
from the lens on these

We were very lucky to
be able to see the cute
baby elephant, staying
close to her mother...

Then, as luck would
have it, our little baby
came out into the open
for a rare shot of just a
baby elephant.
Such luck!

Until her mother came
back over and turned around
on us. This shot is at a wide
angle I assure you!
Yow, everyone became
deathly silent and
wondered if she would
come closer or assault
the car.

In retrospect, we should
have thrown our
driver, James, out of
the rover to appease
this huge beast.
(James was a jerk)

What an experience

Big brother eats away at
these plants that were
just covered in these
6 inch white pricklers.
These pricklers would pierce
your hand and they stripped
them off and ate the whole
plant without pain of
getting stuck.
