Located right on the plantation, bananas are a staple product
of worldwide nourishment. Along with coffee, it is one of the biggest
exportable money makers of Central America.

Large plantations such as
these generally came at the
cost of utterly clear cutting
thousands of acres of
rain forest and virgin land.

An intricate, yet simple,
system of pulleys and wires
and rollers bring in the
cut batches of bananas
from the fields...

The cuttings, and their
protective blue covers
await cleaning and
boxing...

Our friend next cuts the
bananas into smaller
bunches...

and as they are cut, they are
thrown into the first cleaning
tanks and washed...

leftover stem is discarded and
the blue covering sent back
to the field to protect more
bananas from pests and
other nasties...
