Desolation Wilderness
Water That Flows

Even here in September, the water is far from gone from the preceding winter, and continues
to flow down from lake to lake, river to river, in its ever persistent drive to the ocean expanse.

The first and largest of the falls, Horsetail Falls.
Visible from Highway 50, the path climbs 1500'
up and along side this waterway. Rated a 10 out of
10 in our hiking book for difficulty, we tackled it
with pitying ease (of course).

White water crashing in straight at me. The water
was spectacular, flowing in a deadly tide in my direction,
then shifting away quickly to the side. This made
possible photo shots in locations inches from the
flow, yet safe from its grasp.
