The Hôtel des Invalides
we know contains the
remains of the great
Emporer Napol
éon. You can
see the great dome of the
Royal chapel beyond (Dôme
de Invalides). The dome is
107 metres high, and was
completed in 1708.

This building is indeed
very impressive. It took
many minutes to walk to
the front gates; it's size
just belittles the distance.

Luckily, the employees of
the building are allowed
to park in front of the
imposing structure.

Just inside the gates,
running along the courtyard,
there are many canons
remaining as decoration.

We did just happen to arrive
on the day of a funeral.

military, but we knew not who
it was that had perished.
