I took a look around the new house that Kushal's
parents are having built for themselves. The
construction is of thick, solid concrete. Nothing
like what we have in the USA. This house will be
very well insulated in the extreme heat of Ahmedabad.

From out front, one
can see construction
is well on its way,
with the house fully
bricked and the window
frames installed.

We walk around upstairs,
and the solid construction
becomes all too readily
apparent. It's amazing
how strongly built these
structures are. Of course,
Ahmedabad does lie in
a very active fault zone;
earthquakes are not
uncommon here.

A quick peek outside and
you can see the mortar
was only recently applied
and the bricks put up.

One of the workers of
the new home had a great
desire to be photographed.
He was obviously quite
proud of his contributions
to the new home.

aesthetic circular hole

Electricity, Indian style!
Some nice 12 guage
copper wire just jammed
on in there. I'm sure we
have full 20 Amp power.

From the roof of the
new home, you can see
a bit more of the

Electricity is not cheap,
and solar power is alive
and well in new construction
in Ahmedabad.
