The Triangular Forum was
built atop a lava mass with
steep sides, so that there
was a drop to the plain below.
It is possible that the founder
of Pompeii lies within a lower
tomb, enclosed within a
building at the smaller
angled section of the forum.

People push and shove
outside the House of the
Vetti. This house best shows
the wealth of the merchants
of the last ten years of the
city's life. Luxurious wall
decorations lie within.

Within the house of the
Vetti lies a very interesting
subflooring structure.

The use of reinforced
metal to support the
cement goes back
as far as the Romans.

still preserved after

layer, of course).
