The
day was cloudy, but
it was still an excellent
day for photographs. Many
people probably underexposed
the buddha, with it being
so bright in the background.
I went manual on speed settings
to ensure I didn't end up with
the "Great Black Buddha." |

I
have not heard found the
explanation for the scar
across the left side of the face.

The view as you walk up
towards the statue. It is
very impressive.

away from the Buddha.

We
are now inside the bronze
Buddha. You can see the
inside of basically the bottom
of the open shirt of the statue.

There
is a staircase on the
inside, presumably to help
helped the seismic retrofitters
do their work. You can see
some of the modifications to
the neck line done, as those
coloured pieces I presume are
20th additions to allow better
movement between the head
and the body.

Yet
another shot of this
impressive Buddha. Next trip
will surely find me traveling to
Kyoto; perhaps I will see many
of these same ladies in
kimono's there.
Doubt it though. Kamakura
was extremely easy to get to
from Tokyo, and makes a must
do day trip if you do not end
up going to Kyoto!
