The Imperial Palace (Kokyo)
Located on the former site of Edo castle, it is known
as the "center of Tokyo." It is surrounded by moats, and huge
stone walls, and is home to Japan's Imperial Family.

The front building
of the Imperial
Palace area, seen
readily by those
traveling down the
main boulevard in
the area.

well maintained and
serviceable.

The moat meanders its
way around the main
area. In the middle of such
a dense and industrial
maze of high rises and
concrete, the "center of
Tokyo" provides a
lovely release.

A lovely bridge spans
the moat from where
we were and where
we could not go.

A lone guard awaits the
tresspasser with fierce
resolve and resiliency.
His mannerisms tempt
all but the meekest to
attempt a run past his
watchful eye and onto
the Imperial Palace.

most visible structure

The moat is large and
long, and I am 80% sure
I am not confusing this
with a shot from the
Sumida River.

This little water
fountain I found to
look like a pipe organ
after a secularly
aroused Hulk
Hogan bent
it out of shape.

an area with fountains

Nice barrier to prevent
cars from driving into
the Imperial Palace
area. Sure nicer
than a water filled
"jersey barrier."
