Skydiving!
April, 2000
At the Skydance Skydiving school in Yolo County, just west of Davis, CA, I decided to do a little skydiving. An hour in a class telling how to land most comfortably in the case of a double shute failure; Then up into the air to jump with a 200 pound man strapped firmly to your midsection, from a small 8 person plane at the nice cruising altitude of 14,000 feet. With 54 seconds of free fall and a 7 or 8 minute ride under the canopy, it became quite clear that most other activities in life will be easy to tackle, after having this experience under your belt. My friend Chris and Tracy joined along in the fun, though they only jumped from 9,000 feet (wimps). Recommended is 14,000 feet, it doubles your free fall, since the shoots open around 4,000. My camera man kept falling after my chute opened, so he could land to videotape my landing. --> This was a Bay Area Outdoor Club Adventure
