Pergamum and Bergama

The ancient fortress city of Pergamum was so strategically positioned
atop a steep hill that, according to Quintus Curtius Rufus, Alexander the
Great himself skipped the seige of this city and continued directly onward! As
a matter of fact, he later chose to store the booty taken from Asia Minor here!

Bergama is the modern city located at the base of the steep hill and is
overlooked by the ruins that was once the powerful Pergamum.
