Cagaloglu Hamami
In a magnificent 18th century building near Hagia Sophia,
this bath has been honored by Florence Nightingale, Kaiser
Wilhelm II and has been in many Hollywood movies. Only
upscale Turks or yuppy tourists like us choose this location,
as the city is strewn with quality bath houses for less cost.

Located amidst the bustle
and density of the Istanbul
streets, this magnficent
architectural structure,
complete with multiple domes
and levels, is nearly invisible
from street leve.

As you cross the threshold
within, you quickly realize
that men and women have

private cubicles for stripping
down to just a towel awaits,
prior to going into the

Once you finish, you are
served tea and can lie
down and relax as you enjoy
the afternoon light. Obviously
pictures were not allowed to
be taken in the hot rooms, and
I enjoyed the bath verse the
photography for but an hour...
