In and around Kale, home of Santa Claus. St. Nicholas
spent his life and inheritence to help the poor and needy.
He provided the dowry for three daughters of a man who
had fallen into penury, by throwing a sack of gold
through the open window of the oldest girl. What a guy!

Who would think that
the Christian "Santa
Claus" would have a
little church here along
the Mediterranean
coast of Turkey!

The St. Nicholas statue
located in the front
garden of the Church
of St. Nicholas.

As more western
tourists come this way,
it seems the people of
Kale have been giving
the representation of
St. Nicholas a more
Christianized look, with
his hat and his bag
of presents and the
children at his side.
