The
Beers of Turkey
Despite
the fact that Islam forbids the consumption of alcohol, it
is readily available in most areas that tourists frequent. Even in
conservative Konya, in the central plateau, could we find ourselves
a decent, albeit light, brew.

If
you like a good pilsner,
this is likely your best
bet here in Turkey. For a
dark beer drinker like
me, it was passable only
in the form of appeasing
my alcohol problem.

Now,
believe it or not,
Efes Dark was a very
tasty and exciting
choice. I must admit,
I was very surprised to
find such a beer so
far removed from
western Europe. Go
Turkey; Efes dark is
your trump card into the
European Union!

was yet another
commoly found beer;
of mediocre flavour;
it was a light beer.
