Xanthos
Existing as far back as the 12th century BC, the great city of Xanthos
also fought as close allies of the Trojans, and was captured by
Alexander the Great in 334 BC. However, the magnificent and
hapless city was completely burned down between 475 to 450 BC.

The best viewing of Xanthos' antiquities can be seen at the
British Museum in London. Sir Charles Fellows, after discovering
Xanthos in 1838, had everything of archaeological significance
transported to London on a warship that anchored at Patara.
